In early August 2023, Hawaii found itself in a devastating wildfire crisis, blazes fueled by relentless winds wreaked havoc across the island.

In Lāhainā alone, over 2,200 buildings, mostly homes and historic landmarks, were destroyed, with an estimated damage cost of nearly $6 billion.

114 people lost their lives and 385 people are still missing and unaccounted for.

Recently while thinking about this tragic story, I could not help but recall other recent pieces of Hawaii-related news to do with things in the sky and other odd phenomena.

A timeline below:

January 13, 2018 —False Missile Alert Shakes Hawaii

An emergency alert falsely warning of a ballistic missile attack in Hawaii was issued, creating widespread panic. The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, responsible for the alert, revoked it after 38 minutes, citing human error during a shift-change drill. The alert: “BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL”.

December 31, 2020 — FAA Notified About Large Blue UFO Observed Descending into Ocean

An unexplained sighting of an unidentified object in the evening sky around 8:30 p.m. triggered numerous 911 calls. Videos captured a glowing, oblong mass both in the sky and above the water. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed no aircraft incidents or accidents in the area at the time, yet multiple witnesses reported a large blue object descending from the sky into the ocean.

May 31, 2021 — Possible UFO Swarm Over Hawaii Captured on Camera

A resident of Māʻili, Hawaii, captured something unusual in a time-lapse video — a bright blue light darting from the land over the ocean, followed by a swarm of multi-colored objects. Aquino’s video, shot at 25 frames per second with 4-second intervals, revealed these anomalies were in the frame for about 20 minutes. Photo and video analyst Scott Browne suggests the objects were a flock of birds distorted by the time-lapse.

January 28, 2023 — Ominous Green Laser Scan from the Space

A NASA scientist has identified the source of mysterious green lights over Hawaii in January 2023 as the Chinese pollution-monitoring satellite Daqi-1, dispelling earlier theories of U.S. satellite involvement. The lights, captured during a live stream from the Subaru-Asahi Star Camera on Mauna Kea volcano, were initially attributed to NASA’s ICESat-2 radar by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ). However, NAOJ later revised its theory based on the lights’ trajectory. Daqi-1, launched in April, employs LIDAR technology to monitor atmospheric components and is believed to have caused the phenomenon.

February 4, 2023— Chinese Spy Balloon Incident (not Hawaii…yet)

In early 2023, a Chinese high-altitude balloon flew over North American airspace, including Alaska, western Canada, and the contiguous United States, from January 28 to February 4. The U.S. Air Force intercepted and brought it down over South Carolina waters on February 4.

February 19, 2023 — Ballon Sightings Near Hawaii

China experienced a ‘balloon’ incident in Shandong province, potentially linked to a downed Chinese balloon by the US. Similar incidents occurred in Hebei Province, leading to flight disruptions near Beijing. The origins of these objects remain unclear, with accusations exchanged between China and the US, along with claims from Taiwan. On February 19, a mysterious balloon was spotted over the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii, prompting alerts to pilots.

Late April, Early May 2023 — F-22s Intercepted “Spherical Object” Off Hawaii

A C-17 was redirected to investigate an anomaly near Hawaii. Subsequently, F-22s intercepted a “spherical object” in another balloon-related incident. While the object’s owner remains unknown, it did not pose a security threat confirmed the Department of Defense.

April 27, 2023 — US Army Warns “Green Lasers” Over Oahu’s South Shores

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued a warning regarding their coastal mapping operations across the Hawaiian Islands throughout June. This mapping employs laser technology for distance measurement, posing no threat to the naked eye. Specifically, Oahu’s south-facing shores from Barber’s Point to Diamond Head may witness “green light beams” in the skies and along the coasts between midnight and 5 a.m. from April 28th to 30th. The majority of the activity will occur offshore, up to approximately 500 meters inland, at an altitude of around 1,300 feet AGL.

August 16–22, 2023 — Multiple News Outlets Reporting Laser Weapons Conspiracy Theory

Various news outlets such as the BBC, DW, and the Independent came out with stories debunking videos and posts on social media suggesting directed energy weapons or lasers were to blame for the Hawaii fires. Most of these stories were published between the 16th and 22nd days of August.

Summary

The Hawaiian islands have recently been home to a series of bizarre events. Unidentified flying objects have been spotted, while mysterious laser beams trace eerie patterns at night. Large, unexplained spy balloons hover above, sparking espionage suspicions.

These odd occurrences are said to not be connected to the devastating Hawaiian wildfires, one would hope so, but whatever is happening in Hawaii is deepening a mystery and infusing the island chain with an unsettling atmosphere.
